Mercer Island, King County
Air duct cleaning on Mercer Island starts at $525 for a whole house. The final price depends on the number of supply and return vents, the size of the system and how easy the ducts are to reach. We quote after counting registers and looking at the main trunk, not from a flat per-vent coupon price.

Once the first floating bridge opened in 1940, Mercer Island grew from roughly 1,200 people to close to 13,000 in twenty years. A house from that period may carry ductwork that has been extended or rerouted through several remodels, and the oldest sections rarely get opened up.
The whole of Mercer Island is bounded by Lake Washington, and the lake accounts for about half of the city's 12.90 square miles. King County's lake overview calls it the second largest natural lake in the state.
Per the Western Regional Climate Center, the strongest winds in western Washington tend to come out of the south or southwest during late autumn and winter. Wind pushes on a house and draws outside air in through gaps, including around duct runs in crawl spaces and attics, which is one reason we check that duct joints are sealed while we clean.
WSU Extension says moss, if left alone, will shorten a roof's life, and that it thrives through fall, winter and spring on surfaces that stay wet. OSU Extension adds that it depends on shade, and that pressure washing to remove it can damage shingles.
A roof that holds moisture long enough to grow moss can also let damp into the attic below it, where supply ducts often run. When we clean attic runs, we look for water staining on the duct wrap and mention anything that suggests the roof above needs a look.
Every air duct cleaning we do in Mercer Island includes:
Smoke coming back into the room, or a smell that won't go? Book the inspection first.
Book nowWhat we find in island ducts is mostly dust, construction debris from past remodels and, in houses with wood fireplaces, fine ash that has settled in the returns nearest the hearth. Damp crawl spaces and attics can also leave ducts dusty and musty-smelling. Cleaning deals with the debris; a persistent smell can point to a moisture problem worth fixing at the source.
According to the City of Mercer Island, the island lies in the Seattle fault zone and is crossed by at least two strands of the fault. FEMA reports that masonry chimneys attached to wood-frame houses are extremely vulnerable when the ground shakes.
Shaking can also pull apart duct joints in a crawl space or attic, and a separated joint pulls in dust and damp air from outside the system. We note any we find during cleaning, and if the house has a masonry chimney, we can check it too.
We count supplies and returns, find the main trunk and any access points, and photograph the inside of a few ducts so you can see the starting point.
Registers are covered and a powerful vacuum is connected to the trunk, so everything we loosen is pulled out of the house rather than into the rooms.
Each branch is worked with a rotary brush or air whip from the register back to the trunk, returns included, while the vacuum runs.
Grilles are washed and put back, the furnace filter is checked, and you get the after photos alongside the before shots.
Rain is recorded on 20 to 25 or more days in a typical western Washington December or January, the climate center notes, and the season runs from October through winter. Humidity in January rarely falls much under 78 percent even in the afternoon.
Crawl spaces and attics hold onto that moisture, and dust in ducts that run through them absorbs it and starts to smell. CSIA's warning that water, more than fire, is what damages masonry chimneys holds for the rest of the house too: moisture is usually the root problem, and duct cleaning works best alongside fixing it.

From $525 for a whole house. Larger homes, more registers, two systems or hard-to-reach trunks cost more, and the quote lists what drives the price.
Most single-system homes take a few hours. Houses with two furnaces or long runs through a crawl space take longer, and we will give you an estimate of the time when we quote.
